  • TK's school photo, 2008

I know I've been a very slack blogger of late, but I offer TK's most recent school photo as a peace offering... whatcha think?

Although today he came home from school with a chipped front tooth, having tripped over during the day.

  • TK has had gastro...

TK has been under the weather this week, with what he described as 'dull aches with sharp pains' so Ross (with his new flexible working hours) took him off to the doctors.

Later that afternoon I called to talk to TK...

    "How are you feeling?"

"Better, now I just have really smelly gas."

"So I shouldn't sit next to you on the sofa tonight?"

"Oh, no you can. I'll just move away when I need to pass gas."

    That's my boy!

    LOL.

  • Surprise!

My best friend, Sarah, just had her 2nd baby. A wee boy.

Here is part of the email she sent "Well we have a new baby boy (yet to be named). He was born at 12.51pm today and as the contractions only kicked in properly at 12.20pm there was no midwife or ambulance here and certainly no time to get to the hospital so (husband) delivered him on the lounge floor. The ambulance arrived 5 minutes later followed by the midwife 10 minutes after that!"

How cool and amazing is that?

    :)

  • TK...

Today I came home from work early to do some online training at home, so I told TK that he could walk home from school instead of going to afterhours care. TK was thrilled.

At 4.15pm, TK came in looking frazzled.

"Sorry I'm late Mumma, I was working on the school newsletter."

    "How's it going?"

"Oh, not so well. We couldn't get the last part printed in colour."

    "Really? That's a shame."

TK goes to the pantry and opens the door. As he pokes about amongst it's contents, he says, completely seriously "What can I have to calm my stress?".

    *stifles a giggle*

  • beads...

(or should I say, more beads?)

Last week I sent approx 350 beads off to be annealed, and now they are all ready to be photographed, and either sold individually or made into pretty things and sold on my etsy site.

    Hurrah!

I'm really happy with the beads, they have turned out really scrummy:

    Some of my favourites:

A necklace that I've temporarily strung together with little pebble beads:

  • Grey Sampler

One of my favourite books for bead inspiration is called 1000 Glass Beads by Lark Books.

It is I found this necklace called 'Grey Sampler' by Daniel Adams.  I think some of the beads in there are polymer clay beads and they are done by Daniel's wife, Cynthia Toops.

(yeah, I took a photo of the page rather than pulling out the scanner! Lazy huh?)

Anyways, with inspiration from Daniel Adams I have been making a series of lampwork beads as a 'sampler'.

    Whatcha think?

(I'm working on getting a load of beads ready for annealing and photographing, I'm then going to put them on etsy for mega sale prices, to raise money for my very own kiln, I'm going to call it the 'Mumma needs a new kiln' Sale.

    Hurrah!

  • Jeff Healey -- RIP.

I just read that Jeff Healey passed away, on the 2nd of March, aged 41.

Jeff Healey was the first big concert I ever went to. He was amazing.

    Jeff_Healey
Angel Eyes and While My Guitar Gently Weeps are still in my all-time favourite songs.

  • You rock!

Here are some of my 'rock' beads:
I might be biased, but I think they rock.
    (cough)
    (bad, I know)

Three of the beads in the upper right of this shot have been etched to take the shine off them:

I'm not sure that I love the etched look as much as I thought I might.

One thing I really love about them is the way they feel in your hand, they are really smooth and the glass warms up to body temperate pretty fast, so while they are cool when you put them on, they warm up and feel silky smooth on your neck....

    2008_beads07

... I'm really happy with them (did you get that?)

I'm going to order more of this glass as soon as payday rolls around!

And in non-rock beadiness.... check out these colours:

I'm not sure if I should make these into necklaces or sell the beads by themselves.

    Feedback/comments welcome.
