The death toll from the bush-fires has hit the 200 mark (and that number is expected to rise) more than 750 homes have been lost.
Ross and I have been talking about how (and where) we can help, and we have decided that one way we can help is by fostering a cat. Animal shelters and vets (etc) have been stretched to their limits since the bush-fires and there are more injured/homeless animals coming in every day.
I have been in touch with a Vet near one of the fire-effected area's (Coldstream for those who know Victoria) and there is an older male cat who we have decided to foster.
He
arrives at our house on Friday, so we have a couple of days to get a
room sorted out for him, we'll have to slowly introduce him to our two cats, Maddy and Moe.
Due to his docile nature, the Foster Co-ordinator believes he has a family somewhere, but because he isn't microchipped nor wearing a collar there is no way of tracking them down.
This is him:
As the shelter doesn't name rescued cats, he doesn't really have a name* yet, so maybe naming him will be first on the list of things we'll need to do, I've given that job to TK.
Wish us luck, I hope it all goes smoothly!
*Well, I'm sure his previous owners named him, we just don't know what that name is!
