  • I'm part of efairy's Etsy Blog Tour...

First up is kiwi lass, deevaa's shop
I have been a fan of her artwork for a long time, so it is a pleasure
to review her jewelry shop!  Have a look at these beauties:

There's a lot more where those came from.  deevaa's items run from $15-$175.
Get to know the artist at her blog.

From the classic to the cute, our second shop is poetinme/Kawfee's shop:

Kawfee's crafts are priced $2 to $5, so if you see something you like, snap it up!
Kawfee is a frequent commentor on this blog, but if she's new to you, go meet Kawfee here.

SansMerci (who you may remember as the popular choice in one of my art contests, way back when) presents us with her MIL's etsy shop:

Cute animal patriotic neck scarves (great for political rallies, as well, naturally)--and check out this awesome Saharan purse!

And just when I thought I was done browsing, I found this, on page 2:

Yes, the woman sells bundt cake.  Oy.  Friggin'. Vey.

Items range from $6-$69.  I'm sure SansMerci is ready to tell you all about her talented MIL at her site.

Next up, by grapthar's hammer, is flodge's shop.

Right now he's only got one image up, but if I know flodge, he'll change that pretty soon, so keep an eye on his shop:

Poke around in flodge's mysterious life here.

AlwaysAmy makes really cute stuff!  It's my pleasure to show her off again:

    Feel
free to buy me these fudgcicle earings, or the zipper pouch made
entirely of zippers!  Amy once made these cool one-of-a-kind zombie
figures that I'll never forget, either.  So awesome.  Most items are
    $4-$12.  Yes, really!

If you're into crafting and etsy, check out Amy's blog about both, here.

Possibly the sweetest and one of the most talented girls on xanga, yardenxanthe, has a whole zine about crafting and the DIY lifestyle
It was yardenxanthe who got me to do that subversive zine a few years
ago that I made out of ledger paper and mailed in grossly constructed
envelopes on company time--but don't hold that against her!  Her zine
is VERY good.  I can't recommend it highly enough.  Check out what
    you're missing:

All the back issues are $2 to $4, so there's really no excuse for not jumping right in and checking a few out.

Get to know Heather's DIY life here.  (I remember when she wasn't a mama--now she's got TWO really cute kids.  Time flies.)

JuliePersons makes colorful and fuzzy wool creations as full of life as her wild, red hair:

    Items
also include a nursing doll, tapestries, pendants, pins, you name it.
Prices range from $4-$45, and she uses a variety of colors and shapes.

If you don't know Julie, you are missing out.  What a beautiful soul.

    And
lastly--me!  I do not pretend to be one of those meticulously crafty
types.  I have my own brand of perfectionism and it doesn't rear its
head when I make things.  However, I can make a few basic things, like my roller derby necklaces!  And I also have some other stuff listed you might like for yourself or for a friend:

and, for the benefit of those reading this etsy blog tour on a different blog, here's a link back to my blog.  Thanks for visiting!

  • Aussie Farmers Direct...

Our second Aussie Farmers Direct Fruit and Vege box arrives tomorrow. Hurrah!

From the (approx) 11kg of fruit and veges delivered last week, all we have left is:

    • 1 orange
    • 2 apples (1 red, 1 green)
    • 1/2 a pumpkin
    • 1 ear of corn.

    That's it!

We've eaten everything else! (and it was all yummy too!)

I wonder what will be in tomorrows box?

  • Dishwashers and Elliptical Trainers...

Today we went and purchased the ex-display model dishwasher that we saw last weekend.

The super-nice dinner set I brought at Freedom fits in it (it didn't fit in our old dishwasher) so Ross is happy about that. It's also a lot more energy and water efficient than our previous one, in fact, it's one of the most energy and water efficient dishwashers on the market.

Ross' brother is coming to install it tomorrow. Hurrah!

I also hired an elliptical trainer.I've got to get my ass into gear and try to loose some weight.

It arrives on Wednesday, so wish me luck!

  • Overheard while buying socks...

    "Mum, I like these ones."

"Oh yeah, they are a good colour."

"Yeah, and they are, like, thigh-highs."

    "Put them back."

    "Why?"

    "Because they are thigh-highs."

    "But they are cool!"

    "And you are, like, 12."

    .

Today Ross and I went dishwasher shopping. Our dishwasher has been playing up for a while now, and during the week finally ran it's last cycle. It's last cycle lasted the whole damn night! I kept waking up during the night and thinking "Is the dishwasher still going?" But then falling back to sleep without much more of a thought. When I got up the next morning to go to work, the dishwasher was STILL running.

Now it's full of water and it won't drain out. Blurgh!

Dishwasher shopping was interesting... the dishwashers with any sort of feature at all $200 - 500 out of our target price range (of course). But I think we have come to a decision. It's between an Miele and a Asko, two top of the line brands.

I'm leaning toward the Miele because it has the better features, however, Miele don't 'do' an extended warranty. So Ross is leaning toward the Asko. Also, with the Asko there is a display model that does fit within our budget.

  • Notes on why breathing is good...

The James Reyne/Mark Seymour Concert was fabulous. I had a blast!

When I woke up the next morning.... I couldn't breathe... Weird! I'd felt fine the night before.

I had a doctors appointment the following day (to track my blood pressure) so I took the day off work and headed to the doctors Monday night, she said I had a cold which had set off my (long dormant) asthma.

    Blurgh!

I sold one necklace at the Bead and Gem show, which is an OK outcome, it means I at least broke even. And they gave out a whole bunch of my business cards. Which is great. And my new website will be up any day now.

    Hurrah!

In other kinda cool news, TK's school has started a program with 'Aussie Farmers Direct' where you pay $35 a week and they deliver a box of farm fresh fruit and veges to your door.

You don't get to choose what is in the box, but they post a list of what you'll get that week on their website, so you can plan ahead of what you might need to buy at the store.

The idea is that if family's have a stock of fresh fruit and veges on hand they are more likely to eat a wider variety of veges, and that children will choose healthy snacking options (fruit).

They will also deliver milk, fresh fruit juice, eggs and bread, so it sounds like a really good option so far.

I'm going to trial it for a month and see how we go, but so far we are pretty happy with the idea!

  • waiting...

... waiting... I'm still waiting to find out how I went at the Bead and Gem show. My work fit in nicely with the other work on show, in fact, my work looked great.

And there was no other work there like mine.

    I was really pleased.

I know that they gave out all of my business cards, and that I got some really nice feedback, including the possibility of a magazine doing an article about the designers on show. *hurrah*

However, I don't know as yet what, if anything sold.

    *tapping fingers*

There are two more Bead and Gem shows coming up, one in Sydney and one in Brisbane and I'm considering applying for both shows to get the extra publicity.

    So. Yeah.

    Good stuff.
