  • Overheard while buying socks...

    "Mum, I like these ones."

"Oh yeah, they are a good colour."

"Yeah, and they are, like, thigh-highs."

    "Put them back."

    "Why?"

    "Because they are thigh-highs."

    "But they are cool!"

    "And you are, like, 12."

Today Ross and I went dishwasher shopping. Our dishwasher has been playing up for a while now, and during the week finally ran it's last cycle. It's last cycle lasted the whole damn night! I kept waking up during the night and thinking "Is the dishwasher still going?" But then falling back to sleep without much more of a thought. When I got up the next morning to go to work, the dishwasher was STILL running.

Now it's full of water and it won't drain out. Blurgh!

Dishwasher shopping was interesting... the dishwashers with any sort of feature at all $200 - 500 out of our target price range (of course). But I think we have come to a decision. It's between an Miele and a Asko, two top of the line brands.

I'm leaning toward the Miele because it has the better features, however, Miele don't 'do' an extended warranty. So Ross is leaning toward the Asko. Also, with the Asko there is a display model that does fit within our budget.

  • "and you are, like, 12" <---  bahahaaa...man i remember those conversations.

    =======

our dishwasher's been broken for about eight years now.  still taking up space in the kitchen, mind you, but not working.  i can't remember how poolboy got the water out of it but i do remember he had to go back in there to block off some drain to keep mold from growing in it.  *echhhhh*
please don't even ask why he didn't take it out or replace it.  there's no logical reason.

i think those newer dishwasher "drawers" are neat.  less space, good for smaller families.  i reallllly want to find out more about those.

  • the dish drawers are nice, because you can run them independently.  So, glasses in one on a gentle cycle and dirty dishes in the other.  However, forget about washing pots because they simply do not fit.  This is not a problem for me because I hand wash the pots, but for some it could be.

Miele seems to be the best, but really expensive and they generally do not discount anything in their range.  Asko is good too.  Our drawers are fisher Pykle (SP?)

  • OMG!
    Mum is always right, yes?
