  • TK...

Yesterday I was cooking pasta with a store brought pasta sauce.

I had minced beef, eggplant, sun-dried tomatoes, and olives frying, but when I went to open the jar of pasta sauce, I just could NOT get the lid off the jar. I did all the usual tricks and the jar lid was stuck tight.

Ross wasn't going to be home for several hours.

    Bugger.

I check the cupboard, I usually have tins of tomatoes, and other ingredients I could use to create my own sauce.

But not tonight, no fresh tomatoes either.

    Argh!

What do you think our across-the-road-neighbours thought when TK ended up on their doorstep clutching a jar of pasta sauce and announced "Our dinner depends on getting this jar open!"

They sent him back with an open jar though.

    Bless them!

  • Next time take something solid and rap three times around the edges of the jar top. Works like a charm and you don't have to go out.

  • @slinky - I tried that. I tried ALL the tricks!

  • ROFL!  That's awesome.  Just wait until TK is big enough to do it for you!

Though honestly, the thought of that makes me want to check my hair for gray...

  • Well TK's resolve was great but what if he were not there? They also have those flat rubber things that you put around the tops and they open real easy. Do you have one of those? I love kitchen gadgets and sometimes even with them some jar tops it just takes a Hercules strength to get them off..ha  I think I have even taken plyers to them before ha  I know they can be more than maddening.

  • Good Thinking!
