Last night I took TK to an open night at his new school, he got to meet his new teacher, Miss P (who is incredibly attractive, I bet all the 5yr old’s love her, the girls will want to be like her, and the boys with have a crush on her – in fact I’m sure more than a handful of the parents will as well
)
I’m thrilled because this school has both a visual and performing arts program, a computer lab with with 35 computers (class size maximum is 25), and a specialist physical education class which the school he is currently in doesn’t have. I think TK will excel in these new areas, especially the arts classes and PE.
TK was also impressed by the library and that each classroom had 4 computers.
Miss P also showed us some of the class work and explained their method of reading/letter recognition (cued reading -- has anyone heard of it? I hadn't) to us* and it is quite different to the current school, I expressed that I thought he may be slightly behind this class and she re-assured me that the children pick it up very quickly and that they tailor the reading lists to each child, rather than having one list across the whole clas.
All in all, I must say I was very impressed.
In fact, apart from the fact he’s on a waiting list on Mondays for the after-hours care, I’ve not got a single gripe.
Happy Days!

...ya, it doesn't take long in owning a home before the "home owners" rituals set in. I always find it amazing the transformation between before and after interests. You'll find yourself out there too, before long.
