  • Before, before:

    Before, after:

and I quote myself from March 31st, 2003:

"I think I'll leave it alone now, it'll only get worse."

    After,  (still in progress):

    Smirk
    Gold leaf and acrylic
    Gallery wrapped canvas, 16 x 20

Is it getting better or worse?

    Desperately seeking feedback.

  • Ok. You asked for it (feedback). But you're not gonna like mine! hehe

I prefer the original hair color. And the only-hinted-at torso in version 2.

  • nuh-uhhh! no way am i gonna say anything!

last time i did you sent me that nasty e-mail! heh-heh-heh....

honestly though, i like the middle (before/after) painting because the woman's face still floats in that wonderful goldleaf background -  yet is subtly held down/is a part of it by the ghostly sillouhette of her body...

however - the in progress pic has potential...i'd personally like to see a little more depth/detail to her now fully formed/opaque body (her skin and her dress - love the colour of the dress btw) so it doesn't stand in such contrast to the background. (but who am i to say and what do i know?)

overall - it's still very beautiful

  • Better. Definitely better. I really like the darker hair colour and the torso.

  • I like the 3rd one best, but would like even more torso detail Like the hair colour better.. but not keen on the whole one-eye thing.

  • *starts chanting* I can take constructive criticism, I can take constructive criticism...

(really I can, don't fear treading on my toes, I won't cry.)

  • i like them all.

and don't worry about the postage [they also have that blue cat guy--doramon? sp?]

  • My eyes feel more pleased when I look at the second after photo. So I think that means it is better.

  • In my opinion it is getting better. However, I think that the lower part of the torso would need something to boost it up. Maybe some cleavage, maybe showing some bossom. Now it kind of sits there flat and uninteresting. But it shouldn't be too detailed because you don't want to lose the interest on the face. The shirt/blouse/dress that she seems to wearing has a bit of Southern Belle feel to it.

Okay, I've said enough for now...

  • I prefer the second pic and I'm standing by my original comment. To me, the more defined torso makes the blank eye stand out more. I'd be swooping her hair down over that side of the face if you want to define the torso so much. But then I said that about the second version as well.

Her expression just looks more interesting in the second one. The first one she just looks young, the third one makes her look uninteresting.

Sorry if I'm coming off a bit harsh here.

  • I don't know whether this is the direction you want to take it in but the third version has a serene quality to it. The smirk is there but it's made even more gentle and subtle by adding the torso.

Yup, I like the third one best for its serenity.

  • a smirk is sassy....so i think there should be more body, more cleavage more something...something sassy. i like it though. the colors.

  • switching the eye - I wasn't sure at first, but it looks so much better now.

  • I like the third best of all.  =)  I like the darker hair (not blatantly red, sort of ambiguously saucy, which seems to go along with a smirk to me) and the torso detail.  I also L*O*V*E the colors in this one!!!

    =)
