A thankyou gift for the finance manager at my work who helped me get my ABN ready for the competition:
Peace 02
Acrylic and goldleaf on
A4 canvas sheet
Although the colours aren't showing true in this photo (the body and wings have red and yellow highlights), this one came up better than the one I did for Femme&liberty, if I hadn't already put the parcel in the post I'd have re-done theirs -- maybe I still can.
I saw the DVD of 'Once were Warriors' in a bargin bin here for $14.95 so decided to grab it. Ross hadn't seen it, and it was a long time since I'd seen it, so we sat down together to watch it yesterday afternoon. I'd forgotten how violent and raw and yet so compelling and timeless the movie is.
It isn't 'light' by any means, but if you haven't seen it, I encourage you to. Except maybe a few of my readers, who I know may be triggered by family violence.
The sound track really made me homesick!
Update for good news: My poem, 'in the spirit of silence' made this months cover over at the Love Blender. Hurrah!

Well, Xanga ain't loading the pic so I can't see it, but congrats on your poem! It got published without me even rooting for ya!
(You know I'm gonna ~have to~ use that word all the time now, eh!
)
Some days a girl has to be responsible for her own rooting.
I've seen "Once were warriors" a few times. And I think it's a pretty good movie. It tells the story as it is without any sugar coats and such...
I found you from reading OctoberSky's site. Glad I did, as I got to see this lovely picture. It's wonderful!
Gongrats on the poem, too. That's awesome!
Absolutely beautiful!!! Love to see more in person
...terrific peace dove, Deevaa!!! Think I'll pass on the movie.

Wow! That painting is just beautiful. In my opinion you're not a kinda/sorta artist, you are one
Oh, I love it! You never cease to amaze me!
I really like this one. The bird in flight works better for me than the other (later?) peace 2. Thoug I do like that one as well.
