Wheatie bags - for those who asked... (jadedbruja and Speedbump)

"These magical pillows can help aid a restful sleep, whether suffering from aches and pains or a snifferly cold. Just pop in the microwave for a few seconds, add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil and relax.
These are also great for using as a cold compress, just place in freezer for a few minutes and the pleasure is all yours."
That is the only photo/info of a wheatie bag I could find online (pilfered from this site) - you can buy them all over the place here.
They are little bags full of wheat. The wheat retains heat really well, so you throw it in the microwave for 1 -2 minutes, then put it on which ever part of your body that aches, and the heat eases the pain away - the little wheat bits just mold to your bodies contours - right now I have ours under my PJ top on my shoulder. Some come with aroma therapy oils infused in them, or you can buy them plain and add what ever oil you like to the bag.
Ours is heart shaped, red velvet on one side, black satin on the other, and infused with peppermint oil which is meant to relax and sooth.
Wheatie bags are good for any sort of muscle pain or period pain, they can also be used like a hot water bottle. I think leadcrow has something similar with oats in it.
So there you go, all you wanted to know about wheatie bags, and more.

ooooh! Ok, I have one of those...but its's filled with...uh. with..... Damn. It's right on the tip of my tongue. Some kind of little bean, I think....starts with an 'f' maybe...
Grr. These allergy drugs are too potent. Can't think!
...sleepy tight.
MuSe
Fava beans? Like Hannibal made famous?
my mom used to make those...
Ok, it makes more sense now!
Yeah, I thought 'fava beans' too, at first (complete with the hannibal slur), but no...I still don't think that's it.
I love these things. I had something like them once.
Yep, I love mine, too. Very comfy to sleep on
Yup, I have one. An ex (with whom i'm still good friends -- so not an acrimonious breakup etc) gave it to me a couple of years ago when they started being all the craze in shops all over town. the designs just get cuter and cuter (although i see your's is one of the more elegant adulty ones... Mine's a yellow teddy bear. THe wheat smells so yummy (like porridge =)) and the sack of it sits in the tummy...i use it so much that the fact i can remove it to throw the 'empty' teddy into the washing machine helps
. You should get TK one, they're soooo nice. I'm looking for a design of a massive lap-dog =) good for winter nights studying i think.
THey're so much better than hot water bottles for all the obvious reasons
And it's good to be back -- even if there's not been much 'art' lately =P you did catch me out
. I'll check your link out, thanks.
