I'm just clearing out my handbag in preparation for my trip (I don't want to have anything in there that will get me stopped at the airport) in it I had:
5 types of lipgloss
6 lipsticks - various shades of red: Magique, pout, upbeet, rosa rosa, a personalized reflect.com lipstick/gloss and a favourite tube of lancome lipstick so old the name has worn off.
a roll of black and white film
a bottle of sinus relief tablets
3 packets of gum (all opened)
a small bottle of breath freshener
my old address book - if only I could find my new one!
4 pencils and 5 pens - 4 blue and one rose coloured metallic gel pen.
a bottle of bubble blowing mix
4 tampons
5 condoms - one is ribbed for my pleasure.
2 orange hair clips
an watch that doesn't go
5 tazo chai teabags
a tube of berocca
my cellphone
black/green mascara and eyeliner
my purse and a hand full of coins from the bottom of my handbag
the book I'm reading, Blackberry Wine by Joanna Harris.
a pair if black suede gloves
assorted mail I need to forward to my ex
boarding passes from my last trip to Melbourne
a pouch of photos of my most recent paintings
a handful of loose 'deevaa's art online' business cards
3 chupa-chups
car keys
a swipe card to get into work.
Probably nothing that will get me in trouble with customs, but also nothing I can throw out, nothing I say.
OK, maybe I can do without the suede gloves, since it spring is here, and if I send the ex his mail.....But the rest? I can't do without any of it, I swear!
I'm sure I am not the only person alive with a handbag like this, so what do you have in your handbag? (or if you aren't the handbag sort, small bag, wallet, back pocket ... whatever...)

we keep our money in our purse yes...but if a handbag is a purse how in the hell do you fit all that in there????!!!!!!!!
That must be a back pack you are speaking of. I doubt very much that all the items you listed fit in a normal handbag.
Ummmm... no hard feelings, okay!?
It is NOT a back pack, it is a handbag!!!!
it has two handles and I carry it in my hand, or over my shoulder...
Mywallet is like George Costanza's.
That's the second time in a week I've compared myself to George Costanza. What is becoming of me?
Did any of you ever see the 'Friends' episode where Joey catches hell for carrying the 'manbag' - it was hilarious!
It's ok Dee, you should see how I pack for a three day weekend...

*winks at scqueen* Oh I'm good with packing, I spent 28 days travelling across America with just one medium sized suitcase, and of course, my handbag!!
My emergency THINGEE has my Driver's License, a major credit card, work ID and AAA card. I also have a very small amount of cash... just in case. I gave up on what I looked like long ago!!!
I have to say the makeup I carry in my bag is all I wear ever.. I wear lipgloss to work most days and thats it... I put eyeliner and mascara on if I'm going out, and maybe some lipstick, but usually just more gloss.. I don't really know why I carry so much around with me...
In my purse which I carry in my hand bag, I have cash (which at the moment is about $3.50) my credit card, my video club card, my first aid/CPR cert/card, my drivers licence, about a million receipts for the art store, Argyles address, a series of photo booth photos of TK and I, asorted business cards, 2 EFTPOS cards, a coffee card (collect 10 stamps and get a coffee free)... and I think thats about it.
I have a "Get Out of Jail Free" card from Monopoly. You know... just in case.
I have a handbag that goes back and forth to work with me, and in it I have:
-small bottle of hand lotion
-three different keychains, about 8-10 keys on each
-emery board
-cinammon flavored lip gloss
-bottle of pills (with migraine, allergy, and sinus pills all mixed together)
-travel toothbrush
-cell phone
-mini-flashlight
-little bag of candies and breath mints
-half a pack of chewing gum
-travel toolkit (knife, scissors, screwdriver, etc.)
-a cat collar (why the hell is that in there???)
-assortment of pens
-little wallet with important, but not often used ID cards, business cards, membership cards, etc.
-coin purse, with about $7 in change
-and the most important item, my zippered Handspring carrying case...it has, of course, my Handspring in it, and my drivers licence, Social Insurace Card, Birth Certificate, Health Card, Credit Card, and my business cards. Plus a pen, and extra batteries. It's usually the only thing I take with me if I go out. If my handbag is with me, it'll stay in the car. I hate lugging it around.
Well, thanks for making me clean out my purse, Dee. I haven't seen the bottom of it in a while!
He waits...heart beating faster with each passing day. Soon she will arrive and the nightmare of the time that has passed will fade with the first kiss. Mistakes have been made, and forgiven. Feelings have been bruised, but love has healed them and time has passed. Each day is a world , a lifetime, of waiting. But she draws near, and the world can hear his heart pound.
Enjoy your trip!
Happy Dee's Birthday!!!!
In a normal wallet: money in paper and plastic form. tickets. any relevant transportation items.
In a Dr. Who amazing Tardis messenger bag: All of the above. A Nintendo SuperGameboy to keep me busy in the airport. A few novels. A keg of beer (I did say Dr. Who... that should be a clue). A personal Sushi chef. A few bunnies... of the Hefner sort. Pillows. Laptop. Camera. Video Camera. Journal.
I always check for the wallet, keys, cellphone, and a five-yen coin for luck.
i switch bags like underwear; every time i leave the house i'm carrying a different satchel/bag/backpack; unless i'm wearing cargo fatigues in which case i carry nothing. in my bag is usually:
*my handspring in belted leather case
*at least one lip gloss/chapstick/lipstick pencil (i also have these stashed strategically in every corner of my house, and one in every jacket pocket.)
*quarters to call home rattling around in the bottom
*pink and green 'magic wallet' containing bank card, library card, barnes & noble gift card i never get around to spending, and usually more receipts than cash
*something to read
*something to write in
*numerous pens of different colors
*a scent, one of three: 1. "aquarius" from soular therapy, 2. "honey" from demeter, 3. "L" from Lush. yum!!
Wow. I'm a pretty atypical woman!
I don't carry a purse unless I really have to, and the only reason I would really have to is if my pants don't have a back pocket and I can't take a jacket. My essentials fit into my wallet and jacket pockets.
- one tube of lipbalm, cherry vanilla flavor (jacket)
- one pair of light gloves (they stay in the jacket year round)
- an amethyst point (gift from friend, also stays in jacket)
- ordinary stuff like money, cards, ID, and pictures in the wallet, which I stuff into my back pocket
- large pocket knife (in pocket)
If I can't bring the jacket, then I usually just go without everything else. *shrugs*
Oh, and I don't wear makeup or fuss with my hair, so I don't need lipsticks, powders, brushes, or hairsprays.
