  • From the ‘that’s the way life is file’…

Saturday evening Ross sold a computer he’d built from spare parts he’d had laying about. He decided that to celebrate the purchase of the house/car and the sale of the computer we’d go out for dinner.

We decided to try an Austrian restaurant we’d seen and commented about.

Having driven there, Ross decided it was too busy, that because it was just he and I, he wanted to go somewhere quieter.

So we drove around aimlessly for about 30mins and despite us both being desperately hungry we still couldn’t find somewhere we both wanted to go.

Finally I suggested we go to a chain restaurant called ‘La Porchetta’. I’d never been before and I knew of one reasonably close to our place.

On our way there we passed ‘Daisy’s’ the restaurant we’d gone to for Valentines day.

Ross said “do you want to go to Daisy’s?”

(we’d ruled out Daisy’s earlier because Ross wanted to try someplace new).

    “I don't mind. Do you?”

    He shrugs.

    “I'll flip a coin”

We are at a set of lights just past Daisy’s at this point.

    I’m looking for a coin. I can’t find one.

    I say “I can’t find a coin, lets just go to Daisy’s.”

“No, flip a coin, there’ll be one in my wallet.”

The lights change and we drive on. With Ross is wrestling to get his wallet out of his pants pocket while going around the sharp corner at the traffic lights.

“OK, heads we go to Daisy’s, tales La Porchetta.”

    “OK” he says.

    It’s heads.

    “Heads – we’re going to Daisy’s.” I announce.

“Oh, so now you want me to go back.” He grumps.

    “Lets go to La Porchetta”.

    “OK.”

The food was remarkably average. But the company was not.

We brought a car on Saturday and went out to dinner to celebrate.

Sunday the fridge literally blew up (complete with a fuse blowing pop and a plume of smoke from underneath it).

If there is someone up there, he/she has a sick sense of humour. *snort*

  • two words:

    mercury retrograde

  • You had a bad meal at La Porchetta? Damn! I didn't think that was possible.

And Astrotica's comment on Mercury retrograde would explain my Monday morning. Sigh...

  • in 97 we had the t.v., washing machine, fridge, and car all go within one week's time.  it was an unbelievably trying time!

i'll e-mail.  if you don't get it, i might not have your current address.

  • ....just a sign to remember to  ALWAYS pick up  the first choose

  • I'm warning you... Those things with frigdes and things falling apart in your house always come in threes! Remember our bathroom, computer and fridge?

I've learned that you should always decide which restaurant to go eat at BEFORE you're actually on your way. Easier for all that way...

But isn't it wonderful about Wayne and Sherry, though?

  • Oh sorry.. of course it's Sherri (with on "i")... D'oh! I don't like making typos...

There should be a way to edit your comments somehow. Or is there one already?

  • Wow...

I guess you needed to go out to dinner on Sunday as well.. since the fridge died.

  • Gotta hate that kind of thing...  But at least it went out with a flair!

  • I totally understand the "you shell out money you don't have for something you really want and need and then the house hears about it and gets jealous!!!"  Here is a little tip about cars too... do not talk about finances in the car.  If it hears you have a little extra money, it will want you to spend it on itself.  Sounds crazy...but if you don't believe me... just try it.

I can't believe you ate at La Porcrappa.  I can't stand the place.  The pizza always give me a less than desirable feeling about an hour later and the service is not any better. DO you like Mexican?

  • Ok, I live in a small city but it has many restaurants. What happened to reserving a table in the restaurant of your choice BEFORE going to eat out?

    Not done over there?

  • We have a La Porchetta here, and I like their garlic focaccias the best I think. Mmmmm.. yummy!!

    peace
